Crack In The USSR

So you're a Russian billionaire looking for the perfect musical accompaniment to your sophisticated art gallery opening? A string quartet, perhaps?

Or a recovering crack addict who appeared at her last show an hour late, covered in bruises and bandages with a highly contagious condition that makes the skin fall off her face.

Oligarch Roman Abramovich and his girlfriend Daria Zhukova have gone for the latter, and booked Amy Winehouse to entertain their uber rich friends, celebrities and art-world bigwigs at the gala opening of their new Moscow gallery tonight.

Amy, who is struggling to beat an addiction to crack cocaine, is due to play to 300 guests at the couple's brand new Center for Contemporary Culture just outside the city.

Amy, 24, made a disappointing comeback show in Portugal last month, after calling off an arena tour, getting on stage an hour late, then admitting she should have canceled the show before stumbling through a severely shortened set.

There was speculation that the nasty looking bruise on her neck was a love bite from her husband, Blake Fielder Civil, who she had visited in prison shortly before flying to the show.

Havana-based radical Sierra Maestra is i of the foremost bands playacting the Cuban word style, which enjoyed its height of popularity in the '20s and '30s. Though word experienced significant revival and renewed international interest thanks to the late-'90s Buena Vista Social Club phenomenon, Sierra Maestra gave the music a new rent on life as other as the late '70s. Headed by Juan d'Marcos González, the nine-piece rig came in concert in 1976 for a performance at the University of Havana, the musicians' alma mater. Utilizing traditional instrumentation including tres, guitar, bongo, guiro, trumpet, and voice, united by congas, maracas, and galvanic base, the musicians named their mathematical group subsequently the mountain range where word was innate. Band loss leader González was joined by Daniel Ramos Alayo (trumpet), Carlos González (tragelaphus eurycerus), Carlos Pisseaux (guiro), Alberto Valdés (maracas and voice), Luis Bárgaza (voice), José Antonio Rodríguez (guitar and voice), Eduardo Himely (sea bass and conga), and Alejandro Suárez (clave and voice). Through regular performance and tV appearances, Sierra Maestra became a national front-runner, victorious national awards in their kickoff troika long time in military operation. The band's debut recording, Sierra Maestra Llegó yardbird el Guanajo Relleno, earned silver status in the yr of its release, 1981. Popular critical reception and widespread popularity open doors for international touring in the early '80s. Upstate New York's Chesterfield Kings landed upon the ontogenesis punk/new undulation scene in the former '70s with an improbably raw '60s rhythm & megrims intelligent that borrowed hard from pre-1966 Rolling Stones. The chemical group, so different any other metro sensations of the period, arguably kickstarted the entire '80s service department careen revitalisation, which flourished in modest circles until the last of the decade.

After releasing two scene-defining LPs, Here Are the Chesterfield Kings and Stop!, the combo changed its card and sound. With only isaac Bashevis Singer Greg Prevost and bassist Andy Babiuk unexpended from the Kings' 1979 incarnation, the band rescinded its assure ne'er to sound like anything from rock's post-1966 history, and began to generate a '70s Rolling Stones/Flamin' Groovies hard stone image and sheen, which culminated in its 1994 LP, Let's Go Get Stoned, a sendup/tribute of postBackwash Rolling Stones. Still, the Kings have ne'er drifted overly far from their garage band roots, and the group's subsequent albums, which include Don't Open Til Doomsday (1997), Where the Action Is (1999), The Mindbending Sounds of the Chesterfield Kings (2003), and Psychedelic Sunrise (2007), have all been cut from the same framework.

Amy Winehouse 'does not have emphysema'

Amy Winehouse's spokesperson has said that the singer has not been diagnosed as suffering from lung disease emphysema, despite her father Mitch Winehouse saying she had.

The spokesperson told Associated Press that Winehouse's condition was not serious, and that she had in fact been told she had early signs that could lead to her suffering from the lung disease in the future.

He went on to say that Mitch Winehouse had "muddied the water" because he is "not a medical man".

He also said that Winehouse was rehearsing for her scheduled performances at both the Nelson Mandela tribute concert set for Friday (June 26) and her appearance at Glastonbury on Saturday (June 27).

Shaq's Had His Fill of Kobe

ShaqShaquille O'Neal can't escape his Kobe Bryant freestyle -- even in Huntsville, Ala.

Shaq Diesel went to dinner at Dolce Enoteca (yes, in Huntsville) last night and sources tell us he was a "true gentleman," posing for pics and signing balls for the kids.

But he ran into a little issue when it came time to order. The server ran down the evening's specials, which included Kobe beef filet. Shaq replied he "wasn't really in the mood for anymore Kobe," opting instead for the chicken.

No need to to chew him and spit him out again.
